Dead Island 2’s second story expansion, SoLA, will be released next month
The DLC will take place at a music festival
The second story expansion for Dead Island 2 will be released next month.
The DLC, which is called SoLA, will be made available on April 17, shortly before the game’s Steam release on April 22.
The expansion is set at a large Californian music festival which has been built on ancient grounds.
” A deadly virus sweeps through The Valley, turning its inhabitants into ravenous zombies as a chthonic rhythm calls from beyond – the beat of the Autophage,” the story description reads.
“Lured to the festival by an enigmatic warning message, players must explore SoLA’s ruins and put a stop to this otherworldly menace.”
As well as the new location, SoLA will feature new enemy types including the Whipper (which can attack players from a distance with its disemboweled intestines) and the Clotter (which can dissole into a pile of invincible gore then reform elsewhere).
New weapons will be added too, such as the Ripper (a baseball bat combined with a circular saw) and the Sawblade Launcher (a heavy weapon which fires sawblades).
Dead Island 2 exceeded expectations at launch, selling one million copies in three days and two million in its first month, making it Deep Silver’s “biggest launch in history in both units and revenue”, according to parent company Embracer Group.
VGC’s 4/5 Dead Island 2 review said: “A slightly bland campaign is eclipsed by brilliantly entertaining, gory combat.”
The game received a surprise release on Xbox Game Pass for console last month.
