Dead Island 2 leaks on Amazon: Screens, details and possible release date
The game will reportedly take place across iconic Los Angeles locations
A host of new Dead Island 2 details have leaked via Amazon, as well as new screenshots and a possible early 2023 release date.
Earlier on Thursday, the retailer went live with a new product listing for the long-delayed game, which is set to be published by Deep Silver.
According to Wario64, the listing was initially accompanied by a February 3, 2023 release date and a product description, which is viewable below, although these have since been pulled.
The listing also includes several new screenshots.
According to the product listing, Dead Island 2 takes place across the most iconic locations of Los Angeles, “from the verdant suburbia of Beverly Hills to the quirky promenade of Venice Beach”.
The city is quarantined following a zombie outbreak, and the military has retreated.
Players can choose to play as one of six fully customisable characters who will face off against “dozens of distinct zombie types”.
Sources said to be familiar with the game’s development recently told Try Hard Guides that Dead Island 2 will have a big focus on cooperative play.
Dead Island 2 was first announced in 2014 and has since suffered a series of delays and changes of developer.
It was originally in the works at Spec Ops: The Line studio Yager before development duties were taken over by Sumo Digital. Dambuster, an internal Deep Silver studio, then took over development in 2019.
Deep Silver parent company Embracer Group previously appeared to suggest that Dead Island 2 was on track to be released during the current fiscal year ending on March 31, 2023.
