Dead by Daylight spin-off Project T has been cancelled

Behaviour Interactive has announced the cancellation of Dead by Daylight spin-off Project T.

Revealed in May, the 1–4-person co-op PVE shooter saw players “step into the role of Trespassers, a fierce group of characters trapped within a vast, unexplored region of The Entity’s Realm called The Backwater”.

The game was in early development at Midwinter Entertainment, which was acquired by Behaviour Interactive in 2022 following the release of its debut title, Scavengers.

“When we conceptualized Project T, we wanted to have players involved in it as early as possible, which led to the creation of the Insiders Program,” Behaviour said in a statement released on Tuesday.

“This approach has allowed us to get very early validation on the project’s core design and gameplay, which is something that often comes much further into the production of a game. Following the playtest in July, we ran a thorough internal risk assessment from a product and commercial perspective.

“While a number of players expressed appreciation for what they played, unfortunately, the outcome of this deep analysis yielded unsatisfactory overall results.

“It’s with a heavy heart that we announce that Project T has been canceled. We want to thank you for your support throughout this journey.”

Another Dead by Daylight spin-off game, The Casting of Frank Stone, was released earlier this month for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.

The single-player cinematic horror game is a collaboration between UK studio Supermassive Games (Until Dawn, The Dark Pictures Anthology, The Quarry) and Behaviour Interactive.
