CD Projekt has released an overview trailer and the patch notes for Cyberpunk 2077’s last major update.

While September’s Version 2.0 update was once expected to be the game’s final big update, last week the studio revealed plans for another significant patch.

Set for release on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on December 5, it will introduce “some of the most-requested features” including a metro system, portable radio player, repeatable car races, hangouts with romantic interests, and improved boss fights.

Update 2.1 will launch alongside Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition. A summary of the update’s new features follows, via CD Projekt. You can read the full patch notes here.

Update 2.1 new features:

  • V’s issue with their NCART City Pass is resolved and they can now travel between the 19 metro stations located throughout Night City on 5 different lines via fast travel or riding the train itself while gazing out the window and watching the world go by.
  • V will now be able to invite their love interest to spend some time together in any of the apartments. Hangouts are a repeatable, unlimited event that become available once the romance path with a given character has concluded.
  • You can now listen to the radio while on foot (or while riding the NCART train) using the new Radioport feature. Available while you explore, it switches seamlessly to car radio whenever you get in a vehicle and turns off when quest-specific music starts playing. It is now also possible to adjust the volume directly in the radio window.
  • Added replayable car races V can take part in after finishing The Beast in Me. Look for race flag icons on the map and win the races to get eddies and a discount for the Autofixer website. Additionally, we improved the racers’ AI to make them more competitive and made enhancements so that the whole experience is much more fun!
  • Sightseeing binoculars in various scenic spots have been added as another way to appreciate Night City’s vistas.

Cyberpunk 2077 was billed as one of the biggest titles of the last console generation, but things went badly wrong for it at release.

After three delays, the highly anticipated RPG released for PC and consoles with a host of technical problems, resulting in refunds being offered and the game being pulled from the PlayStation Store.

Following six months of patches designed to improve the game, it returned to Sony’s online marketplace in June 2021, when CD Projekt said it believed Cyberpunk 2077‘s performance had reached a “satisfying” level.

CD Projekt has spent the last two years working to improve and expand the game, and last month it claimed it had sold over 25 million copies.

Its first and only expansion, Phantom Liberty, arrived in September and cleared 4.3 million sales in its first two months, according to the company.

CD Projekt’s next major release will a new The Witcher game, while a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel is entering development at its North America studios.
