Cursed to Golf creator’s next ‘chill adventure’ is officially coming to Game Pass

Tanuki: Pon’s Summer, the next “chill adventure” game from former Q-Games and Chuhai Labs developers, will release day one on Xbox Game Pass.

Announced via a new trailer on Monday, developer Denkiworks confirmed the indie title will debut for PC and Xbox Game Pass in late 2025.

Published by Critical Reflex, Pon’s Summer sees players controlling a BMX-riding mailman in a Japanese town, delivering packages and completing jobs for inhabitants.

“Pon is a delivery tanuki with a job to do: earn money to restore the Great Tanuki God’s shrine,” reads a synopsis. “But staying on task isn’t easy when there’s a whole town to explore, tricks to pull off, and plenty of ways to get sidetracked. Between work and play, Pon’s summer is shaping up to be anything but ordinary.”

The three co-founders of Denkiworks met while working on PixelJunk Scrappers. Liam Edwards then left the team to direct his own new game, Cursed to Golf, which made VGC’s top 10 games of 2022.

“We’ve been hard at work on our first title, inspired by our experiences of life in Japan, coming from an expat and native perspective. It’s essentially a love letter to this country and its beautiful culture,” Edwards said last year.
