A remaster of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 is coming to consoles and PC
The PSP prequel will be updated with HD graphics and new music
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion, a modern remaster of the PSP title, has been announced.
The new version of the game, which appears to use the same engine as Final Fantasy VII Remake, will come to PS5, Xbox Series, PC, Nintendo Switch and last-gen consoles this winter, Square Enix announced on Thursday.
“Since its original release in 2007, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 has received wide acclaim for its deep and emotional story,” the publisher said.
“This new version enhances the graphics to HD and updates all of the 3D models in the game. Full voiceovers and new music arrangements present this epic tale of strife and heroism, presenting Final Fantasy 7 in a brand-new light. Enjoy a more beautiful and accessible Crisis Core, going way beyond just a simple HD remaster.”
Originally released on PSP, Crisis Core primarily focuses on Zack Fair, a young member of the group SOLDIER, who is assigned to look for the missing SOLDIER Genesis Rhapsodos.
The game’s storyline takes the player from the war between the megacorporation Shinra and the people of Wutai to the events in Nibelheim, ending just before the beginning of Final Fantasy VII.
