Remedy confirms release plans for PS5 and Xbox
Remedy has confirmed that Control Ultimate Edition will launch digitally for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on February 2, 2021.
A physical release will follow on March 2, 2021, the developer confirmed on Friday.
In a tweet, Remedy showcased the next-gen console version’s two graphics modes for the first time, which will allow players to choose between a 60fps Performance Mode and 30fps Graphics Mode with ray-tracing.
The footage below was captured from the PlayStation 5 version of the game, according to Remedy.
Currently available for Xbox One, PS4 and PC, Control Ultimate Edition includes the base game plus all post-release content.
Digital PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions were due to follow at the end of this year, before physical next-gen versions arrived in early 2021, but Remedy eventually decided to delay all versions.
Publisher 505 Games has said it will only offer free upgrades to the next-gen version of Control to players who own the Ultimate Edition, meaning those who purchased the game previously will not be eligible.
The news expectedly caused a negative reaction from many owners of the original version of the game, and led to 505 releasing a statement to apologise and attempt to explain its decision.
