Confirmed: Sony’s classic PlayStation games on PS Plus are 60hz in North America
Resident Evil Director’s Cut also added as an unannounced classic
The North American version of Sony’s revamped PlayStation Plus service has gone live in the region, confirming several new games and NTSC versions of PSOne classics.
Last month when the service launched in some Asian territories, it revealed that first-party PlayStation games being added to PS4 and PS5’s revamped PS Plus catalogue were the slower PAL 50hz versions.
However, VGC has confirmed that North American users will get the NTSC versions.
North American PS1 Emulation Games
- Worms Armageddon
- Worms World Party
- Oddworld
- Tekken 2
- Mr Driller
- HotShots Golf
- I.Q Intelligent Qube
- Ape Escape
- Echochrome
- Jumping Flash
- Syphon Filter
- Wild Arms
- Resident Evil Director’s Cut
Resident Evil Director’s Cut hadn’t been previously announced for inclusion in the service, and other titles known to be coming such as the PSP game Resistance: Retribution are also missing.
It’s worth noting that this portion of the service is expected to be updated regularly. Only the first Syphon Filter game is included, despite all three entries being rated for inclusion at the same time.
PlayStation Plus’s new Essential, Extra and Premium tiers are expected to launch in the Americas on June 13, and in Europe on June 22.
For PS Plus Essential, which is the standard PS Plus tier similar to what is available today, new ‘free’ games will continue to be added on the first Tuesday of each month.
An additional refresh will occur in the middle of each month with new games for the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium plans. The number of games refreshed will vary per month.
