Company of Heroes Collection announced for Nintendo Switch
The first game in the series and its two expansions will make their console debut this year
Sega has announced Company of Heroes Collection for Nintendo Switch.
It will include an updated version of the original Company of Heroes and the real-time strategy game’s two expansions, Opposing Fronts and Tales of Valor, which will be making their console debut upon release this autumn / fall.
Company of Heroes Collection is being developed by port specialist Feral Interactive, which also handled the Switch version of Alien Isolation for Sega, rather than series creator and in-house studio Relic Entertainment.
First released for PC in 2006 before coming to iOS in 2020, Company of Heroes features campaigns based on the liberation of France by Allied forces in World War 2, and lets players take control of both Allied and Axis forces in multiplayer.
“With a bespoke user interface and controls designed for play on Nintendo Switch, the full battlefield will be under the player’s command,” Sega said. “Intense tactical combat takes place across 41 squad-based missions, with moment-to-moment encounters shaping the course of each battle.
“A customisable Skirmish mode is also included, with unique factions, multiple game modes and a wealth of maps, offering enormous replay ability and rewarding bold experimentation.”
The franchise made its console debut in May, when Company of Heroes 3 made the jump from PC to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Sega Europe laid off 121 employees at Vancouver, Canada-based Relic that same month.
