COD Warzone Season 2 new content ‘has been shifted’ as devs focus on fixing ‘foundational issues’

The next season of Call of Duty: Warzone will focus more on gameplay improvements than new content, Activision has said.

In a large blog post detailing plans for all aspects of Call of Duty, the company explained that it’s been listening to community feedback and acknowledged that it has to prioritize improving the game before it can start adding lots of new content.

“Let’s talk about Season 02 for Call of Duty: Warzone,” the blog reads. “We’ve made the decision to prioritize focus on gameplay tuning, adding more quality of life, and addressing ongoing bugs.

“This means that in order to deliver meaningful improvements to our players, new content originally planned for Season 02 has been shifted to create bandwidth to address foundational issues.”

According to the post, the new improvements will be staggered over the course of Season 2, which launches on January 28, with “quite a few quality of life changes coming mid-season”.

“Our priority is having the most solid foundation that Battle Royale can offer and are excited for players to see it all live,” it added.

The blog also lists 25 specific gameplay and quality of life adjustments it plans to make, including faster reload and swap speeds for all weapons, adjusted bullet penetration for walls, increased jump speed and successive jump height and faster parachute cutting.

Activision concluded its blog by acknowledging the integration of Black Ops 6 and Warzone, which it says “for the first time, has brought our teams and products together into a unified development environment”.

Conceding that the new structure “has presented its share of obstacles”, it says the change “also paves the way for more ambitious updates and closer collaboration in the future”.

“We’re essentially laying a foundation to make new technology immediately available to all of our studios, improving development pipelines and the stability of porting features between titles, and allowing us to focus more of our time on future releases,” it says.

Developer Treyarch recently revealed some of what’s in store for Zombies fans in Black Ops 6 Season 2, including a brand new map called The Tomb.

Activision will soon allow Black Ops 6 and Warzone players on consoles to disable cross-play with PC users in Ranked Play. The company said it was making the move in response to player feedback and “in the spirit of improving the gameplay experience.”
