Co-op standalone game Elden Ring Nightreign announced

FromSoftware has announced Elden Ring Nightreign, a standalone co-op-focused spinoff from Elden Ring.

Announced on stage at The Game Awards, the game will allow multiple players to take on bosses in co-op gameplay.

The game will be published by Bandai Namco and will be released in 2025 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series and PC.

The trailer, which can be viewed below, features multiple boss designs from Elden Ring, as well as some locations from the original game.

In an interview published in May, Miyazaki ruled out making a second Elden Ring expansion, but left the door open for a potential sequel.

He said the company would rather release one major expansion than split additional content into several parts, which would reduce the freedom of exploration and sense of adventure the game offers.

Released in February 2022, Elden Ring is comfortably From Software’s biggest commercial hit, having shipped over 25 million copies according to its developer.

This summer, Miyazaki said there was outside interest in making an Elden Ring adaptation, possibly a film.

PlayStation maker Sony is in talks to acquire From Software’s parent company, Kadokawa Corporation.
