CD Projekt expects its new Witcher saga to include ‘more than one game’
The next entry in the franchise is currently in the pre-production phase
CD Projekt has confirmed that it’s planning to release more than one game as part of the next major chapter in The Witcher series.
The company revealed in March that its next Witcher game will kick off “a new saga” for the franchise.
Asked for more details during CD Projekt’s first half earnings call on Wednesday, president and joint CEO Adam Kiciński said the company is envisaging releasing a number of new Witcher titles.
“We have in mind more than one,” he confirmed. “The first saga was three games, so now we are thinking about more than one game, but we are in pre-production of the first game from the second Witcher saga.”
The company previously confirmed that the open-world title is being built with Epic Games’ Unreal Engine, rather than its proprietary REDengine, which powered previous Witcher games and Cyberpunk 2077.
During Wednesday’s earnings call, Kiciński also said that the updated version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is “on track” to be released for new-gen consoles and PC later this year.
CD Projekt claimed in April that The Witcher franchise had shipped over 65 million units, including more than 40 million copies of The Witcher 3.
