Captain Toad updated with Labo VR support

Plus free game trial announced for Japan

Nintendo has released a Labo VR update for Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker for Nintendo Switch.

The update allows owners of the Labo VR Goggles to play four special VR levels, accessible from the game’s main menu.

Nintendo also announced Tuesday that it will be holding a free trial for Captain Toad between August 5 and 11 for Switch Online members, although this has only been confirmed for Japan at the time of publication.

Captain Toad is the fourth Nintendo Switch title to be updated with VR support, following earlier game updates for Smash Bros. Ultimate, Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey.

The Nintendo Labo VR Kit itself was released in April and is the fourth entry in the family-friendly build and play series.

It features six cardboard sets designed to be used with accompanying software. These include the Toy-Con VR Goggles, which sit in front of the Nintendo Switch hardware itself, plus the Blaster, Camera, Bird, Wind Pedal and Elephant Toy-Con projects.

The full Labo VR Kit costs $79.99 (£69.99), while a starter set featuring the Goggles and Blaster is available for $39.99 (£34.99).
