Capcom’s greatest ever catchphrase has been decided by its players
The publisher celebrated with a round of crossover wallpapers
The greatest ever catchphrase in a Capcom game has been revealed, following a public vote.
As part of its ongoing 40th anniversary celebrations, Capcom held a poll on its Capcom Town website asking players to vote on their favourite line from its games.
Although some of the publisher’s most iconic lines, such as “Shoryuken” from Street Fighter, weren’t included in the poll, the five nominees were:
- “Objection!” from Ace Attorney
- “Itchy. Tasty.” from Resident Evil
- “So tasty” from Monster Hunter
- “Let’s party!” from Sengoku Basara
- “Tiun Tiun” (the death sound effect) from Mega Man
The winner, with an overwhelming 52% of the total vote, was “Objection!” from the Ace Attorney games, originally made famous by the series’ first protagonist Phoenix Wright.
To celebrate the poll results, Capcom has released four wallpapers featuring characters from the other four nominated games saying the “Objection!” catchphrase.
The Capcom Town website launched in June, celebrating the company’s 40th anniversary.
Billed by Capcom as “the ultimate digital tourist destination”, Capcom Town will be updated regularly with new features.
The site includes a number of areas, including a Retro Games section, a Museum, a ‘Merch Factory’ where players can download Capcom-themed Twitter icons and pages dedicated to Capcom’s CEO and COO, giving history on the company.
The Museum section features over 500 pieces of artwork, design documents and video and music selections from a number of Capcom series including Monster Hunter, Resident Evil, Street Fighter, Mega Man, Devil May Cry, Ace Attorney and Ghosts ‘n Goblins.
