Call of Duty’s anti-cheat system can now make players invisible to cheaters
54,000 more Warzone and Vanguard accounts have also been banned
Activision has announced a new Call of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone anti-cheat measure that can make regular players undetectable to cheaters.
Dubbed ‘Cloaking’, the cheating mitigation technique not only makes regular players invisible, but also makes bullets and sounds from legitimate players undetectable.
“Legitimate players, however, can see cheaters impacted by cloaking (generally, they’ll be the players you see spinning in circles hollering, ‘Who is shooting me?!’) and can dole out in-game punishment,” Activision said.
A previously revealed mitigation technique, Damage Shield, can disable players’ ability to inflict critical damage on others if the server detects them tampering with the game in real-time.
Activision also said this week that it has issued a new ban wave targeting 54,000 accounts suspected of cheating. The last one banned 90,000 accounts in mid-March.
Vanguard and Warzone Season 3, Classified Arms, launched this week.
The battle royale game’s latest major update includes a new point of interest, significant changes to several other areas of Caldera, a new Gulag and a fresh Contract, among other features.
The new point of interest is Dig Site. Featuring abandoned excavation machines and equipment, tents and massive skeletons, it’s located between Mine and Ruins.
Runway, Peak and Lagoon have also been updated ahead of the launch of Operation Monarch in May, when Godzilla and King Kong will be unleashed on Caldera.
