Call of Duty: Warzone’s 20GB Season 6 update can now be pre-loaded on PS4
It’s the second season made available for pre-load, following file size criticism
PlayStation users are now able to pre-load Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone’s Season 6 update.
The version 1.27 update is around 20GB in size and will allow players to install the Season 6 content ahead of its official unlock time of September 28 at 11PM PT / September 29 at 7AM BST, reports Charlie Intel.
It’s the second Warzone and Modern Warfare season PlayStation has allowed players to pre-load, following criticism of the games’ increasing file size.
According to Infinity Ward’s production director Paul Haile, the developer is continuing to try and reduce the overall size of the FPS games.
“It’s a priority for us to keep working on reducing the overall size of MW & WZ on your hard drives, but at the same time also delivering new seasons for everyone to enjoy,” he wrote last month. “We’ll continue to work on this and keep pushing space reductions out with future updates.”
Season 6 is due to add seven Metro stations around the Verdansk map. According to a new blog post, the stations themselves won’t add a huge amount of new surface area, but their impact on matches should be significant.
At the start of every match, the Metro will have a number of open stations to explore. All of them have the same layout and will contain a high level of loot to uncover, according to Activision.
Trains themselves will go in either direction around Verdansk and offer players with a fast travel system across the map.
Significantly, trains will not move to a station that is outside of the circle collapse, so that players don’t board a train and inadvertently be sent to their deaths.
In addition to the Metro system, Season 6 will add the game’s latest operators Farah and Nikolai. Farah is unlocked at tier 0 of the Season 6 Battle Pass, while Nikolai can be unlocked at tier 100.
