Call of Duty Warzone Season 5 trailer confirms release date and teases map changes
Plus new Shadow Company operators confirmed
Activision has released the first trailer for Call of Duty Warzone’s Season 5 update and confirmed a release date of Wednesday, August 5.
The trailer offers the first look at new operatives from Shadow Company, an elite private military company with “a framework and agenda all of their own.”
The video puts significant focus on the Stadium – which is understood to be opening in Season 5 – and imagery showing the nuclear bomb hidden in one of Warzone’s secret bunkers.
It’s believed the bomb will be linked to an in-game event which will announce the next Call of Duty: Black Ops game, set during the Cold War.
Shadow Company consists of Rozlin “Roze” Helms (formerly Jackals), Velikan, and Marcus “Lerch” Ortega, the Company’s leader.
In Warzone’s plot, Shadow Company was formed from the fires of in-fighting between the Coalition and the Allegiance groups
Activision wrote: “Ostensibly Allegiance Operators who have grown impatient with Coalition progress under the command of Captain Price, Shadow Company is a splinter group formed without compromise, ready to take the war directly to Mr. Z and into Verdansk and deal with terrorist threats directly.”
VGC reported earlier this month that Call of Duty Warzone would introduce significant map changes in its Season 5 update scheduled for early August.
Development sources told us at the time that the changes would include a revamp of the game’s large football stadium to include an open interior and the addition of a loot-filled train which would continuously circle the game map.
An official screenshot for Warzone’s Season 4 appeared to tease the new open stadium last month.
Modern Warfare and Warzone Season 5 could also introduce classic Call of Duty multiplayer map Highrise.
