Call of Duty Warzone adds new Gulag weapons and Classic Battle Royale
Plus new Modern Warfare maps and Ghost pack
Activision has detailed this week’s Call of Duty Warzone and Modern Warfare update.
Free-to-play Warzone will see several additions this week, including a limited-time Classic Battle Royale mode which removes features such as Buy Stations, Contracts and the Gulag.
More significant is the addition of SMG and assault rifle weapons to the gulag. In addition to shotguns and pistols, players will now randomly spawn with these other weapon types during their 1v1 respawn battles.
The Armor Box is a new item added to all modes in Warzone. Similar to the Munitions Box, this item can be used by the entire team to replenish their armor. The Armor Box can be found in ground loot, Supply Boxes, or purchased at a Buy Station.
The final Warzone addition sees Bloody Money rotated to Quads.
In Modern Warfare, the Modern Warfare 3 map Hardhat will be added to multiplayer.
In addition, Aisle 9 is the latest Gunfight arena and it’s available in its own unique playlist – ‘Clean Up on Aisle 9’. The 3v3 playlist will host TDM, Kill Confirmed, Grind, and Domination, so “players can discover multiple ways to fight on this small map,” according to Activision.
Finally, the ‘Ghost Pack Contingency’ bundle will be added to the store this week featuring two weapon blueprints and a new skin that gives Ghost a classic look.
Activision announced this month that Call of Duty: Warzone has attracted over 60 million players since releasing on March 10, while 2019’s Modern Warfare has sold more copies and has more players “than any prior Call of Duty title at this point after its release”.
The publisher also said the next premium Call of Duty game, which is expected to be a Black Ops title from Treyarch, “already looks great and remains on track for release later this year”.
