Call of Duty Warzone looks set to expand to 200-player matches soon
New playlists seemingly revealed in promo message this weekend
Call of Duty Warzone looks set to add 200-player playlists for its Battle Royale and Plunder modes soon.
That’s according to a promotional message which has reportedly been showing up for free-to-play players this weekend.
As pointed out by Twitter user DissolveGaming, the promotion clearly shows a menu item featuring ‘Plunder 200’ and ‘BR 200’ playlists.
Call of Duty Warzone’s co-developer Infinity Ward has previously committed to expanding the game’s player count from 150 to 200 in the future.
Speaking during the game’s launch in March, co-studio head Patrick Kelly said Infinity Ward was playtesting four and five-player squads. Currently, the latter is not available in Warzone.
“I can tell you we are already playing with 200 players,” Kelly told USA Today. “We are going to release that a little bit later.”
He added: “I can tell you we have four- and five-player squads we are already playing with. But we want to launch with something we know works really well and we have tested to the nines and then play around with these different team sizes.”
Modern Warfare and Warzone Season 4 recently added a large amount of new content, including a new Season Pass, In-Match Events for the Battle Royale game and a 50 v 50 team mode.
Warzone’s In-Match Events, including Jailbreak which returns all eliminated players to the match, can happen in any given game without advance notice.
Season 4 also introduces the Contraband Contract System, a new, rare contract with a permanent Blueprint Reward. Contraband contracts have a chance to spawn after a previous contract is completed.
Warzone Season 4 will also add Juggernaut Royale and Realism modes.
