Call of Duty Vanguard’s new mode removed on Xbox Series X/S due to crash issues
Champion Hill disabled following the game’s latest playlist update
Sledgehammer Games has removed Call of Duty Vanguard’s Champion Hill mode on Xbox Series X/S consoles while it investigates crash issues players have been experiencing.
The crash problems affecting the mode on new Xbox consoles seemingly began on Monday following the release of Vanguard’s latest playlist update.
“We’ve removed Champion Hill on the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S while we investigate crash issues in this mode,” Sledgehammer said today.
Vanguard released on November 5 and has had a somewhat rocky launch, including code redemption problems and an issue that prevented some PS5 owners from playing the game.
Last week, Sledgehammer disabled the game’s ‘Secrets of the Pacific’ event just hours after its launch while it investigated “widespread crashing issues” affecting Vanguard.
Following reports of relatively low launch sales, publisher Activision held a free Call of Duty: Vanguard multiplayer trial just two weeks after the game’s release, while the title was discounted to $39 on all console platforms over the Black Friday period.

Call of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone Season 1 will launch on December 8 alongside the battle royale game’s new Pacific map Caldera.
According to VGC’s Call of Duty Vanguard review, Sledgehammer’s game “feels like a solid step-up from Black Ops Cold War, but falls short of the benchmark that was Modern Warfare 2019″.
