Call of Duty Modern Warfare Season 1 extended to February
New crossbow weapon and more to be introduced in the coming weeks
Infinity Ward has extended Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 1 until mid-February.
“Over the next few weeks, a host of new items and challenges will arrive, including an in-game Challenge to earn the new Crossbow weapon, more remixed game modes, new playlists, and more in the Store to discover,” the studio said on its website.
“To make room for all that activity, we are making a one-time extension of Season One – it’s now ending on February 11.
“During that time, there will be 2XP, 2X Weapon XP, and 2X Tier Progression to help you finish up your Officer Ranks and Tiers, and get you ready for an exciting Season Two.”
Double XP and double Weapon XP will be live for four days beginning on January 17 at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm UK.
Modern Warfare Season 1 and the game’s first Battle Pass launched in early December, ushering in “the biggest free content drop in Call of Duty history,” according to publisher Activision.
It has included new multiplayer, Gunfight and Ground War maps, plus fresh multiplayer modes, Spec Ops experiences and weapons.
A 3v3 version of Gunfight launched on Tuesday following the recent introduction of 1v1 Gunfight.
Activision is currently donating the proceeds from Modern Warfare’s Outback Relief Pack to the Australian wildfires relief effort.
A Modern Warfare glitch uncovered in December enabled players to explore locations which look set to be included in the game’s anticipated but still to be confirmed battle royale mode.
