Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer beta launches
Early access now available to PS4 pre-order customers
Activision has launched the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer beta on PS4.
Early access is currently available to PS4 pre-order customers, ahead of an open test on Sony’s console from September 14-16, and cross-play testing on PS4, Xbox One and PC later this month.
Activision says the beta tests will feature a regularly updated roster of maps, playlists, “other content drops” and “surprises”.

The publisher detailed Modern Warfare’s multiplayer component in August. It will support over 100 players, although there’s no confirmation of a battle royale mode yet.
For the first time in the series PC and console players will be able to play together online via cross-platform play, while the game will ditch the franchise’s traditional season pass “in order to deliver a greater mix of more free maps, content and community events post-launch”.
A Call of Duty: Modern Warfare alpha test was held in August, offering participants the chance to try out the game’s new 2v2 Gunfight mode.
During a recent earnings call, Activision chief operating officer Coddy Johnson said the company has a number of surprises in store for the “breathtaking” Modern Warfare, “including the largest post-launch content pipeline in franchise history”.
The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare release date is October 25, 2019. The game’s available to pre-order from Amazon, Best Buy and Game, among other retailers.
