Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2v2 alpha now live on PS4
Game’s new Gunfight mode open to all players until August 25
Activision has launched a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare alpha test on PlayStation 4.
Users can now download and try out the game’s new 2v2 Gunfight mode until Sunday, August 25.
A PlayStation Plus subscription isn’t required to access the alpha, which features five close-quarters maps custom-built for the mode.
Activision describes Gunfight as “multi-round cage matches” in which players have the same loadout, which switches every two rounds.
Rounds last for 40 seconds, followed by a capture the flag-based overtime period if one or more players from each team are still alive when the time expires.
Activision detailed Modern Warfare’s multiplayer component in August. It will support over 100 players, although there’s no confirmation of a battle royale mode yet.
For the first time in the series PC and console players will be able to play together online via cross-platform play, while the game will ditch the franchise’s traditional season pass “in order to deliver a greater mix of more free maps, content and community events post-launch”.
The publisher plans to hold a Modern Warfare open beta in September, featuring cross-play testing on its second weekend.
