Call of Duty Mobile Season 9 launches with Gunsmith and expanded battle royale map
New season, Conquest, also includes Shipment map and 10v10 multiplayer mode
Activision has launched Call of Duty Mobile Season 9: Conquest.
The headline feature of the new season is the Gunsmith weapon customisation system. First introduced in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, it enables players to create their own weapons in multiplayer and battle royale.
The battle royale map has also been expanded to include four new areas: Radar Base, Dormitory, Outpost, and Camp.
New multiplayer map Shipment 1944 is a close quarters battleground that originally featured in Call of Duty: WWII. It is a remake of the Shipment map which debuted in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.
Conquest will also introduce a 10v10 multiplayer mode during the season. Supported modes will include Team Death Match and Domination, playable on Shipment, Takeoff, Meltdown, and Crossfire.
Free Season 9 battle pass rewards include the Shield Turret Scorestreak and a new base Marksman Rifle, the Kilo Bolt-Action.
Call of Duty Mobile Season 8: The Forge introduced multiplayer map Highrise and multiplayer mode Juggernaut, among other features.
Activision said this month that Call of Duty Mobile has surpassed 250 million downloads since releasing in October 2019.
The publisher recently launched an alternate reality game as part of its marketing campaign for the next premium Call of Duty title, Black Ops Cold War.
Treyarch and Raven Software are developing the game, which is expected to be officially revealed later this month via Call of Duty Warzone.
