Call of Duty Mobile Season 3 update released
Featuring new maps, modes, battle pass and more
Activision has released the Call of Duty: Mobile Season 3 update in all regions.
The Season 3 battle pass, which has been shortened from 100 to 50 tiers, will enable players to unlock Phantom and FTL from Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare plus a variety of futuristic weapons.
While the battle pass won’t launch until January 20 (January 19 PST), plenty of new features are already live.
On the multiplayer front, a recreation of Modern Warfare 2’s Scrapyard is now available, while an original map called Cage will launch later in the season.
“[Cage] has a deceptively basic three-lane design with verticality, open lanes for sniping, and a mixture of close quarters & mid-range options,” Activision says in its latest community update.
The new and limited time Rapid Fire mode is also now available, featuring unlimited ammo, faster scorestreaks and reduced operator skill cooldowns.
The headline battle royale addition is a 20vs20 mode called Warfare, which includes fast-paced multiplayer style gameplay with infinite respawns and loadouts saved upon death as two teams battle to be the first to reach 150 kills.
Season 3 includes a new season of Ranked Mode too, while players can now link Call of Duty: Mobile accounts to official Call of Duty accounts, enabling them to use Google Play and Apple’s Gamecenter as login options.
“As a thanks to anyone who helps test this first iteration of this system, anyone who links now will receive the Outrider – Arctic skin as a reward,” Activision says.
Call of Duty Mobile is estimated to have been downloaded over 180 million times across iOS and Android devices in the three months following its worldwide release on October 1, 2019, representing the best quarter for a game since Pokémon Go’s launch in Q3 2016.
Season 2 of the game released in late November, adding Call of Duty Mobile controller support and the game’s Zombies mode.
In other Call of Duty news, Infinity Ward has extended Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 1 until mid-February.
