Call of Duty Mobile named best Android game 2019

Call of Duty: Mobile received the top prizes in the Google Play 2019 game awards.

Google selected the title as its Best Game of 2019, while it was also named Users’ Choice Game of 2019 ahead of fellow nominees including Mario Kart Tour, Angry Birds Dream Blast and Harry Potter Wizards Unite.

“The Best Game of 2019 should be fun, accessible, and deliver compelling gameplay that’s a blast to play,” Google says. “It also needs to push the boundaries of what we expect on mobile, and this year’s winner does all of that without skipping a beat.”

Google’s roundup of top games on its Android marketplace also listed five of the best titles in four categories: Best Competitive, Best Indie, Best Casual and Best Innovative. They’re published below.

Call of Duty Mobile is estimated to have been downloaded 148 million times across iOS and Android devices in the month following its October 1 release, marking the second biggest launch month of any mobile game in history.

Activision recently launched Call of Duty Mobile controller support and the game’s Zombies mode alongside Season 2 of the game and a new Battle Pass.

Apple named the most downloaded and most purchased iOS games of 2019, and crowned its iPhone Game of the Year, on Tuesday.
