Bungie says Destiny 2’s Final Shape DLC was ‘accidentally pushed live early’ on PS5
Studio urges fans to beware of spoilers following “extremely difficult” leak
Bungie has acknowledged a major leak which saw Destiny 2’s The Final Shape expansion “accidentally pushed live on PS5’s streaming service”.
Players were temporarily able to access parts of the milestone DLC on Thursday, ahead of its official release next week, resulting in significant spoilers being shared online.
“A small group of players were able to play some of the campaign, access Collections, and other reward info coming in The Final Shape, and Echoes,” Bungie said.
“We recommend being very careful on social media over the next few days to avoid spoilers. Remember to exercise caution and be critical of potential misinformation.
“Please be considerate of others and report leaks so players can experience the conclusion of the Light and Darkness saga themselves,” it continued.
“Thanks to all our community members who have already helped us by reporting leaks and those actively working to prevent more of the experience from being shared before its intended date.
“It’s always extremely difficult when our team’s hard work is leaked early, but we are still excited for everyone to experience the full release on June 4 together.”
“The Final Shape is the culmination of the first ten years of Destiny storytelling and, for Guardians everywhere, countless hours spent together,“ according to Bungie.
“In The Final Shape, Guardians will pursue the Witness into the Pale Heart of the Traveler, rally the Vanguard, and seek to end the War of Light and Darkness.”
