Bugsnax is getting a major free content update in early 2022
The Isle of Bigsnax includes new creatures and a fresh area to explore
Bugsnax is getting a major free update in early 2022, developer Young Horses has announced.
Set for release on PS5, PS4 and PC, The Isle of Bigsnax will introduce a range of large prehistoric creatures which have been preserved at the bottom of the ocean.
“You’ll need to master new mechanics like the Shrink Spice, which can cut the giant Bugsnax down to a catchable size,” Young Horses creative director Kevin Zuhn told the PlayStation Blog.
“Joining you are Chandlo, Floofty, Triffany, and Shelda, who will explore both the island’s long-forgotten history, and more of their own personal stories.
“Back in Snaxburg, you’ll finally have your very own hut! You can take on challenges from your mailbox to earn furniture and accessories to customize your living space. These challenges put a few twists in the gameplay, and will shake up how you explore and catch.”
Isle of Bigsnax features
- A new biome to explore
- A dozen fresh Bugsnax to capture and feed to your friends
- Over 100 challenges and 30 quests
- Nearly 200 decorations to collect and display
Revealed during a PS5 showcase in June 2020, Bugsnax is the latest game from the Chicago-based developer behind 2014’s Octodad: Dadliest Catch.
Described as a “narrative-driven adventure game” partly inspired by Sony’s Ape Escape, it sees players hunting and capturing 100 different kinds of half-bug, half-snack creatures.
The PS5 launch title was free for PlayStation Plus subscribers when the game released last November.
