Brothers director working on new co-op game with EA
Hazelight Studios title one of three new indie games signed by EA Originals
EA has signed a “new co-operative experience” from Hazelight Studios, which counts Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons director Josef Fares among its notable employees.
The in-development title will be the studio’s second game with EA, following 2018’s A Way Out, which Fares also directed.
EA revealed on Saturday that its indie publishing label, EA Originals, has signed three new titles, including Hazelight’s next game.
The other two new games are Lost in Random by Fe developer Zoink, and RustHeart from Glowmade,
Zoink’s title will offer a “unique spin” on the fantasy action genre, according to its creator.
Glowmade’s game is inspired by Iron Giant and follows up the firm’s previous title, WonderWorlds, which was published by Tequila Works.
All EA Originals games will also become part of the EA Access subscription service across PS4, Xbox One and PC.
EA’s Matt Bilbey, EVP of strategic growth, told GamesIndustry.biz that despite the announcement, EA will limit the number of indie titles it signs.
“We continue to connect innovative and creatively distinct new games from the best and boldest independent game makers to a global audience of players. We want to offer our players the broadest, highest quality content possible, with the best access possible.”
