Borderlands 3’s second season pass introduces a new game mode in November

Gearbox will release a second Borderlands 3 season pass on November 10, alongside the game’s next-gen upgrade.

Offering “new modes and ways to play”, Season Pass 2 will include next month’s Designer’s Cut DLC and spring 2021’s Director’s Cut DLC.

The former will introduce an additional skill tree for each Vault Hunter and a new game mode called Arms Race. More details on both features will be revealed in a series of live streams taking place later this month.

Gearbox recently confirmed that Borderlands 3’s PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S updates will be available when the next-gen consoles launch next month.

The PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of the loot shooter will support 4K and 60FPS, while all next-gen versions will include a new three and four player split-screen mode.

A new two-player vertical split-screen mode will also be made available for current and next-gen consoles.

All add-on content and saves will transition to the next-gen console versions, and users will be able to upgrade to the next-gen version within the same console family at no additional cost.

Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford recently said he thinks the leap to PS5 and Xbox Series X will be the biggest in the history of the console market. While he doesn’t expect this to be evident in next-gen launch titles, he forecast the leap will prove to be even greater than the jump from 2D to 3D was.
