Bloodstained Switch content ‘now near-identical to other platforms’
Latest update further improves performance
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night developer ArtPlay has released the latest performance update for the Nintendo Switch version of the game.
In a post on the game’s official forums, publisher 505 claimed the new 1.04 patch brings the Switch version to “a nearly identical state for content” compared to other platforms.
“This is an important step leading into the upcoming Zangetsu release, which we will talk more about in the near future,” it said (Zangetsu is an in-development second playable character for the game).
Ritual of the Night for Switch suffered significant performance issues at launch, which producer Koji Igarashi had suggested were the result of the logistical challenges of studio outsourcing.
ArtPlay released an earlier update aimed at improving the game’s performance on Switch, and the latest 1.04 patch further improves stability, general bug fixing and performance related to animations, it’s claimed.
The last patch, version 1.03, ‘eliminated’ input lag across the game and reduced load times by up to 70%.
The developer said on Wednesday that it will continue to work on “overall performance improvements” for Switch, even though it feels the game is now “nearly identical” to other platforms in terms of content.
Commenting on Bloodstained’s Switch performance issues last year, producer Igarashi said: “When you’re working with an outsourced studio, it can be difficult to match the quality line when things changed,” he said.
“With Bloodstained, we would first share our goal with the outsourced studio and make sure we both agree and determine the necessities, but even with proper planning it’s difficult to reach.”
