Bloober has revealed 11 minutes of gameplay from its Layers of Fear remake

11 minutes of gameplay footage from Bloober Team’s Layers of Fear remake has been published.

Viewable below, the gameplay walkthrough features the Writer, a recently unveiled character that will feature in the game, exploring an unsettling lighthouse.

“As The Writer, enter the lone and ghastly Lighthouse — a newly-introduced location — and uncover an untold story that links all of the Layers’ characters and events together,” reads a description accompanying the new footage.

“Unravel secrets, solve puzzles, and face the threats of the old Mansion that can only be solved with a lantern — a new and essential tool to confront the nightmares in the game”

Layers of Fear is being developed by Bloober Team and Anshar Studios. The game is a remake of the original Layers of Fear, and also includes the content of the Layers of Fear Inheritance DLC and Layers of Fear 2, all of which is being rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5.

It will be released for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows PC in June 2023.

“We are bringing back a franchise that is really special for us, in a new form that will give players a truly fresh gaming experience and that will shed new light on the overall story,” said Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno when the game was announced last year.

“Our plan was to recreate the games, but we didn’t want to make it a simple collection of two remastered games. We’ve worked out a new approach, something that is maybe not yet obvious. But I can tell you there’s a reason why we called it Layers of Fears.”

Bloober Team is also currently working on a remake of Konami’s Silent Hill 2.
