Blizzard could release more Switch games, says president
Brack “super happy” with Diablo release
Blizzard could release more games for Nintendo Switch following 2018’s port of Diablo 3, its president has said.
Speaking in an interview with Venturebeat, J. Allen Brack claimed the company was “super happy” with how Diablo 3 – its first release on a Nintendo console since 2000’s StarCraft 64 – has performed on Switch.
“Nintendo’s been a great partner,” he said. “We’re a fan of that platform, a fan of Nintendo, a fan of the Nintendo IP, a fan of the Switch. It’s a really good platform and it’s really fun to play on.
Blizzard is currently undergoing a “renewed focus” on game development. Although it has no titles planned for release in 2019, it claims to have more projects in development than at any point in its history.
Brack said it’s “not ridiculous” to assume that more Nintendo titles will come from the company.
“We’d like to have — we think of it as another platform. It has some unique properties that the Xbox and Sony platforms don’t have. Thinking about what games make sense for that type of console is something we’ll never stop doing.”
Diablo 3 released for Switch in November 2018 with strong support from Nintendo, including a special hardware bundle and a Diablo amiibo figure.
It’s possible Blizzard may be saving some big announcements for BlizzCon 2019, which will take place at the Anaheim Convention Center in California on November 1 and 2.
