Black Ops Cold War updates being rolled out for Season 2 performance issues
Latest patch also includes stability fixes for Outbreak
Treyarch is rolling out Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War updates designed to address performance issues players have been experiencing since Season 2’s launch.
Released on February 25, Black Ops Cold War and Warzone Season 2 includes a new large-scale Zombies experience called Outbreak, six free-to-acquire weapons, four multiplayer maps and fresh points of interest in Warzone, among other features.
Treyarch said following the Season 2 update’s release that some players “may experience occasional performance issues” and that it was working on fixes for all platforms.
A fix for the issues was first released for PlayStation platforms on Thursday before being rolled out for Xbox One.
The update, which is coming to Xbox Series X/S soon and presumably to PC too, also includes “a handful of stability issues” for Outbreak and returns Prop Hunt to the featured playlists.
A Black Ops Cold War free trial is currently available until March 4, offering players the chance to sample a selection of Zombies and multiplayer content.
In related news, Warzone’s current season will be the last to take place on its original Verdansk map, VGC understands.
At the end of Season 2, the battle royale game will finally transition to its second, 1980s-themed iteration, with new locations themed around the Black Ops series.
The change will be marked by an explosive in-game event designed to narratively transition Warzone from the Modern Warfare era, to a setting more in line with the most recent premium series release.
