Black Ops Cold War Season 1 has been delayed, avoiding a Cyberpunk 2077 clash
A new Warzone map, multiplayer map Raid and more arrive on December 16
Activision has delayed the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 1.
The game’s debut season will now launch on December 16 rather than on December 10 as previously planned, avoiding a clash with the highly anticipated Cyberpunk 2077.
CD Projekt’s game, itself delayed on three occasions, would likely have taken some of the attention away from Black Ops Cold War Season 1’s launch, with players and influential streamers having to divide their attention between the two juggernauts.
In a blog post announcing the delay, Activision said Cold War Season One will deliver “the largest free content drop in Black Ops history”.
It will include a new Warzone map and mode at launch. The new location is Rebirth Island, according to dataminers.
Warzone’s arsenal will also add over 30 Black Ops Cold War base weapons, plus Blueprint variants. A new “Gulag experience” is also coming.
Among the new multiplayer maps coming in Season 1, an updated version of Call of Duty: Black Ops II’s Raid will be available from December 16.
Season One will also deliver new Zombies modes, 2v2 Gunfight with four new maps, and a “massive” new Fireteam map.
Black Ops Cold War will be offering double XP and double Weapon XP from 10am PT/6pm UK on December 12 until the launch of Season 1.
Activision said earlier on Friday that Call of Duty has attracted over 200 million players and generated over $3 billion in net bookings over the past year.
