Black Ops Cold War confirms new playlists and double XP weekend

Activision has announced this week’s upcoming Black Ops Cold War playlist updates and plans to hold another double XP weekend.

Two new playlists will be made available on February 18, which marks the beginning of the final week of Black Ops Cold War and Warzone Season 1.

Throwback Moshpit features a variety respawn modes playable on classic maps Raid, Express and Nuketown ’84, while Snipers Only Moshpit sees two teams of six competing with nothing but sniper rifles on Team Deathmatch and Domination across a variety of maps.

Gunfight Blueprints will continue to be available, offering 2v2 Gunfight matches using randomised weapon blueprints across five maps: Game Show, KGB, U-Bahn, ICBM and Nuketown ’84.

Double XP and double Battle Pass XP will also be available in Black Ops Cold War (and presumably Warzone) for four days starting at 10am PT/1pm ET/6pm UK on February 19, ahead of the launch a new Battle Pass.

The first season of Black Ops Cold War and Warzone content has seen the most Battle Passes consumed since the introduction of the new in-game system in late 2019, Activision said this month.

Black Ops Cold War and Warzone Season 2 arrives on February 25

The publisher announced earlier on Tuesday that Black Ops Cold War and Warzone Season 2 will launch on February 25.

The free content update and its release date were revealed in a cinematic trailer which takes place in the jungles of Laos in Southeast Asia.

“Get ready to descend into the heart of the Golden Triangle as Frank Woods and his team go on the hunt for Russell Adler, who went missing at the end of Season One after being captured by Stitch,” Activision said.

“But the strike team finds a new adversary in the form of Kapono ‘Naga’ Vang, a ruthless trafficker of Nova 6.”

Earlier this month Activision announced plans to release a new premium Call of Duty game in the fourth quarter of 2021 and claimed that the Call of Duty franchise has generated $27 billion in lifetime sales since launching in 2003.
