Black Ops Cold War and Warzone Season 1: new maps, modes, weapons, vehicles and Gulags detailed
“The largest free content drop in Black Ops history” launches next week
Activision has published a detailed rundown of everything players can expect from Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 1.
Launching on December 16, Black Ops Cold War Season 1 promises “the largest free content drop in Black Ops history”.
In a new blog, Activision revealed the content that will be made available at launch and later in the season.
More Call of Duty:
MW3 best loadout | Best Warzone loadout | MW3 best sniper | MW3 best shotgun | MW3 MCW loadout
Season 1 will include three new Operators: Stitch: Warsaw Pact (launch week), Bulldozer: NATO (in season) and Zeyna: NATO (in season).
It will introduce five new weapons: MAC 10 SMG (launch week), Groza Assault Rifle (launch week), Streetsweeper shotgun (in season), sledgehammer (in season) and wakizashi sword (in season).
New MP modes will include Gunfight (2v2, launch week), Prop Hunt (6v6, launch week), Combined Arms: Hardpoint (12v12, launch week), and Dropkick (6v6, in season).
Season 1’s new multiplayer maps are The Pines (6v6, launch week), which takes place in a neon-drenched New Jersey shopping centre, Raid (6v6, launch week), which first appeared in Call of Duty: Black Ops II, and the Christmas-themed Nuketown ’84 Holiday (6v6, launch week).
New 2v2 Gunfight maps Game Show, ICBM, KGB and U-Bahn will all be available at launch, while new Fireteam map Sanatorium will be released mid-season.
A new Scorestreak will also be available at launch. The High-Altitude Reconnaissance Plane (H.A.R.P.) reveals enemy locations and directions on the mini-map.
A fast-moving boat, the Tactical Raft, will be added to the game mid-season, appearing first in the Sanatorium Fireteam map.
Warzone’s new map, Rebirth Island, will be available at launch.
“Part prison, part chemical bioweapons manufacturing and testing facility, the entire island has dozens of locations to explore including laboratories, barracks, decontamination areas, and a hilltop prison block where unspeakable acts have been perpetrated,” Activision said.
“Expect intense, close-quarter action with a similar playstyle to Warzone’s Mini BR mode as Rebirth Island comes to Warzone. Planned playlists include Trios and Quads with a lower player count than in Verdansk, amping up the action and intensity.
Verdansk is also getting a new Gulag experience at launch, which is based on the original Nuketown map layout.
Rebirth Island will also have its own new Gulag located deep beneath the surface of its Prison Block area.
And an attack helicopter will be added to both Warzone maps later in the season. “This airborne menace is built to similar specifications as the regular helicopter, but with one major exception: mounted on both of the helicopter’s side rails is a belt-fed minigun.”
