Black Ops 6 and Warzone players on consoles will soon be able to disable cross-play in Ranked Play
Over 136,000 Ranked Play bans have been dished out to Black Ops 6 and Warzone players
Activision will soon allow Black Ops 6 and Warzone players on consoles to disable cross-play with PC users in Ranked Play.
The company said it was making the move in response to player feedback and “in the spirit of improving the gameplay experience.”
The option to restrict Ranked Play to console players only is currently in testing and set to be made available during Season 2, which kicks off on January 28.
Cheating is a significant concern in Ranked Play, which launched last November and is accessible to players who have achieved at least 50 wins in multiplayer.
According to Activision, it has banned over 136,000 Ranked Play account to date.
“Instances of cheating in Call of Duty, particularly in Ranked Play across both MP and Warzone, are frustrating and severely impact the experience for our community,” the publisher acknowledged, before outlining some of the measures it’s putting in place to combat the practice.
These include “new and improved client and server-side detections and systems,” a “major kernel-level driver update” and a “new tampering detection system.”
Activision also explained why it’s decided not to make IP-based bans.
“We do not utilize IP-based bans for anti-cheat because they tend to take action against entire groups within a range that aren’t problematic,” it said. “For example, a college campus or internet café would be swept up in an IP-based ban wave when only a single machine was targeted.”
