Black Myth: Wukong gets a free update with a challenge mode, maps and new equipment
The version 1.0.12.16581 patch is rolling out now
A new update is rolling out for Black Myth: Wukong which adds a number of new features.
The highlights of the version 1.0.12.16581 patch are the new challenge sections, the addition of ‘Journeyer’s Charts’, and new equipment.
Challenges can be found once the game has been completed for the first time. Players can find them by visiting any Keeper’s Shrine.
There are two types of challenge, named Return of Rivals and Gauntlet of Legends. Return of Rivals sees players having one-on-one duels with previously defeated enemies, with three difficulty levels to choose from.
Gauntlet of Legends, meanwhile, lets players “battle against multiple opponents in succession”, with customised curses allowing them to tweak the difficulty.
Completing the Gauntlets will reward the player with new rare treasures, including weapons, equipment, curios, drinks and medicines.
The update also adds a new Journeyer’s Chart feature, which appears to mean the addition of in-game maps.
The first Journeyer’s Chart is unlocked when the player meets the Keeper at Black Wind Mountain, and a new chart can be bought at the Keeper’s Shrine in each new territory.
Finally, a new set of four armour pieces called the Armor Set of Opulence has been added, to celebrate the upcoming Chinese New Year.
The full patch notes, including the list of bug fixes in the new update, can be found on the game’s official website.
