Black Myth: Wukong DLC reportedly planned for early 2025
Game Science wants to launch an expansion to coincide with the Chinese New Year, it’s claimed
Black Myth: Wukong DLC is reportedly planned for release in early 2025.
According to China-based journalist and games industry consultant Daniel Camilo, Game Science wants to launch an expansion for the game to coincide with the Chinese New Year, which begins on January 29, 2025.
Camilo said he’d heard from “very reliable first hand sources” that the DLC will arrive “right at the end of January, or very soon after”.
“Needless to say that plans can always change,” he said in a follow-up post on X. “While teams have internal plans and roadmaps, nothing is hardly ever set in stone when it comes to release dates in gaming…”
Black Myth: Wukong DLC hasn’t officially been announced, but Game Science investor Hero Games recently told Bloomberg that an expansion is in development.
Camilo’s sources also claimed the game has sold 20 million copies since its release for PS5 and PC on August 20.
With a development budget of approximately $70 million, Black Myth: Wukong has reportedly earned over $800 million to date.
“This makes it one of the fastest selling games of all time, only overshadowed by games like GTAV and MW2,” according to Daniel Ahmad, director of research and insights at Niko Partners.
Game Science announced in June that an Xbox version of Black Myth: Wukong had been delayed due to internal quality concerns.
However, it has subsequently been reported that the delay was due to Sony striking an undisclosed console exclusivity deal for the game.
