BioWare’s free-to-play Star Wars: The Old Republic is now available on Steam
MMORPG is the latest EA game to join Valve’s platform
Star Wars: The Old Republic is now available on Steam.
BioWare’s free-to-play MMORPG originally released in 2011 and went on to receive five narrative expansions.
It lets players step into various iconic roles including a Jedi, a Sith, and a Bounty Hunter in a story set some 3,000 years before the events of the Star Wars films.
Publisher EA announced last year that it would bring its PC games to Steam, starting with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, following a long period restricting its releases to its own Origin platform.
It brought 25 games to Steam last month including Need for Speed Heat, Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville, Burnout Paradise Remastered, plus Mass Effect, Battlefield and Star Wars Battlefront titles.
They will also be available via its EA Access subscription service when it launches on Steam this summer.
Priced at $4.99/£3.99 per month or $29.99/£19.99 annually, the service offers unlimited access to the full versions of many catalogue games, plus early access trials and a 10% discount on digital purchases.
EA CEO Andrew Wilson said last year: “Through our subscription, great games and more, we’re excited to bring players in the Steam and Origin communities together with access to the best games, whenever and wherever they want to play.”
