BioWare says several veterans have returned for Mass Effect 4’s dev team
Principal narrative designer and creative director rejoined BioWare this year
BioWare has confirmed that a number of Mass Effect trilogy veterans are working on the next entry in the series.
Project director Mike Gamble, who’s tasked with envisioning the future of the Mass Effect franchise, introduced several team members on Twitter following the release of the first Mass Effect 4 teaser trailer last week.
Dusty Everman, principal narrative designer for the next Mass Effect, and creative director Parrish Ley, both rejoined BioWare this year to work on the series.
“Dusty was one of the key people responsible for bringing the original Normandy to life,” Gamble said.
“Parrish was the cinematic director for the Mass Effect Trilogy. Many of the amazing moments you had were crafted from him and the team.”
Gamble also singled out Brenon Holmes, a 20-year BioWare veteran and producer working on Mass Effect Legendary Edition too.
“Brenon is a veteran of 3 Mass Effect games,” he said. “His ingenuity and work helps to bring amazing gameplay systems to the Mass Effect Universe. Brenon is one of many who want to bring you the game you deserve. As time goes on, you’ll get to know more of us.”
Gamble added: “Oh, and lets not forget Derek Watts. Original Art Director for Mass Effect. He’s back too. Ready to rock.”
BioWare’s studio head and Mass Effect’s original creative director, Casey Hudson, announced earlier this month that he was leaving the company for the second time.
The studio first revealed it was working on a new Mass Effect in November. “We are in early stages on the project and can’t say any more just yet, but we’re looking forward to sharing our vision for where we’ll be going next,” it said.
In addition to the new game, Mass Effect: Legendary Edition will be released for consoles and PC in 2021.
The three-game collection will include all DLC from the original versions and various graphical improvements such as 4K Ultra HD textures, better character models and new effects.
BioWare also released the first full trailer for the new Dragon Age game last week.
