Beyond a Steel Sky has been given a Steam release date
Game releasing in mid-July following last month’s Apple Arcade launch
Revolution Software has announced that Beyond a Steel Sky will be released for PC via Steam on July 16.
The latest game from studio co-founder and Broken Sword creator Charles Cecil is the sequel to the cult classic 1994 adventure Beneath a Steel Sky.
Featuring art direction by Dave Gibbons (Watchmen), it’s described as a “dramatic, humorous, cyberpunk thriller” in which puzzles drive a “timely and intelligent” narrative as returning protagonist Robert Foster battles against a rogue AI.
According to the official blurb: “A child has been abducted in a brutal attack. You have vowed to bring him home. But the trail has led you to Union City.
“Fortified and impenetrable, it is a utopia in which people live happily under the surveillance and control of a benign AI. But all is far from what it seems…”
Beyond a Steel Sky debuted on Apple Arcade in July, and Cecil told VGC last year that he hoped Apple’s subscription service would significantly increase the audience for premium games on mobile.
