Best Buy won’t be selling any PS5 or Xbox Series X/S consoles in stores this year
But the retailer hopes to have new stock available to buy online
Best Buy has said it won’t be selling any PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S consoles in stores this year.
However, the US consumer electronics retailer is hoping to be able to offer next-gen consoles for sale online.
“While our stores won’t have devices for purchase on launch day or throughout the holiday season, keep an eye on BestBuy.com, where they’ll be available for purchase as soon as we have them available,” it said in a blog post.
“And ordering online still lets you get your new console however you want — whether that’s through store pickup or contactless curbside.”
Customers who have successfully placed Xbox Series X/S or PS5 pre-orders and selected store pickup will be able to collect their console from their local branch on launch day when stores open or at a confirmed appointment time.
Sony confirmed earlier on Thursday that all PS5 sales at launch will be online only due to Covid-19 safety concerns.
Walmart will be selling PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles online at specific times next week.
