Bella Ramsey expects The Last of Us season 2 to air in ‘late 2024, early 2025’
Fans will have to wait a while for the next part of HBO’s adaptation
The second season of HBO’s The Last of Us may not be released for a couple of years, according to star Bella Ramsey.
During an appearance on ITV’s The Jonathan Ross Show on Saturday, the actress who portrays show protagonist Ellie was asked when fans might get to see the second season.
“It will be a while,” she responded. “I think we’ll probably shoot at the end of this year, beginning of next. And then it’s a long, it’s like a year filming, so it will be probably the end of 2024, early 2025.”
The first season of The Last of Us, which premiered in January and concluded this month, will be released physically on 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD in July.
HBO announced that The Last of Us had been renewed for a second season just two and a half weeks into season one’s nine-episode run.
The show enjoyed an overwhelmingly successful debut season which saw HBO viewership figures that were second only to House of the Dragon in recent years.
Last week, co-creators Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin seemingly confirmed their intention to make a third season too, by suggesting that season two wouldn’t be able to contain the entirety of The Last of Us Part 2 game.
Following a delay, Sony will release the PC version of The Last of Us Part 1 on March 28.
