Battletoads will release on Steam, Xbox and Game Pass next month
Rare reboot features fully animated cutscenes
Rare has announced that Battletoads will release on August 20 for Game Pass, Xbox One and PC via Steam.
Developed by UK-based Dlala Studios, Battletoads marks the beat-em-up series’ first game in over 25 years. The new instalment allows up to three players to control of Zitz, Rash and Pimple across a series of beat-em-up and platforming stages.
It will also feature the notorious speeder bike sections that made the original Battletoads game notoriously difficult.
“The tenacity and split-second reflexes required to beat the original Battletoads has given it a fearsome reputation among fans,” Rare head of licensing, Adam Park wrote on Xbox.com.
“Dlala’s new approach focuses on maintaining this mayhem while ensuring you have enough options to play at your own pace.
“That includes bringing in some buddies for couch co-op, which allows up to three players to drop in and out at will, along with difficulty settings designed to suit everyone from Tadpole to Battletoad.”
