Battlefield 5 War in the Pacific launching on October 31

New season of content dated and detailed with official trailer

DICE will launch Battlefield V’s War in the Pacific season of content on Thursday October 31.

It was previously announced that Battlefield V Chapter 5: War in the Pacific would introduce three new maps, including a modern take on Iwo Jima, and at least seven fresh weapons and gadgets before the end of the year. It will also add new factions (the US and Japan) and vehicles, including boats.

As detailed on the Battlefield website, new maps include Pacific Storm and the returning classics Iwo Jima and Wake Island (the latter coming in December), reimagined for Battlefield V.

New weapons include the M1 Garand, Type 99 Arisaka, Type 100 and M1919A6, while katanas and the M2 flamethrowers are new battle pickups that must be found on the battlefield to be equipped.

New vehicles include the M4 Sherman tank, the Type 97 Japanese equivalent, the LVT and Ka-Mi Light Amphibious Tanks, the Dinghy, the MB Jeep, the Type 95 car, the F4U Corsair plane and Japanese Zero Fighter.

DICE general manager Oskar Gabrielson recently apologised to a community of players “frustrated and disappointed with the experience across” Battlefield V Chapter 4: Defying the Odds, which introduced a number of game issues the studio has been working to address ever since.

“I hope the work we’ve put into Battlefront II is a testament to our long-term commitment to our games and our communities,” he said in August. “We’ll get Battlefield V back on track and make it the awesome game you all deserve.”

Publisher EA will hold the third of three Battlefield V free weekend trials for PC beginning on Thursday October 24. It will include access to the game’s Grand Operations multiplayer mode.
