Battlefield 2042 gets 64-player modes on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC
Smaller Conquest and Breakthrough matches are available for a limited time
Battlefield 2042 has introduced 64-player modes on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC for a limited time.
Smaller Conquest and Breakthrough matches, which are expected to be available throughout the Christmas period, are now accessible via the All-Out Warfare menu.
Battlefield 2042 launched with 128-player game modes on new-gen consoles and PC, while the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game are capped at 64 players.
DICE said today that the featured Rush playlist will be available through the holiday period too. The option to matchmake is available on Portal’s home screen.
The final Battlefield 2042 update of 2021 was released on December 9. It improved bullet hit registration consistency and included balance changes for bullet dispersion and recoil, among other features.
Earlier this month Electronic Arts announced plans to create a “connected Battlefield universe” alongside widespread changes to the franchise’s development structure.
As part of these plans, DICE general manager Oscar Gabrielson is set to leave EA altogether, while Respawn and Infinity Ward co-founder Vince Zampella will take on a new role as the overseer of the entire Battlefield franchise.
Halo designer Marcus Lehto is also leading a new Seattle studio whose aim will be to add more meaningful narrative to the Battlefield series.
