Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora’s release date has been confirmed.
Revealed during Ubisoft Forward, the game based on the James Cameron Avatar franchise will release on December 7.
A trailer shown off during Ubisoft Forward showed a Na’Vi using rifles and other human weaponry. It also gave a brief glimpse at the open world of Pandora. The game will see the player fighting against another invading human threat.
James Cameron also appeared as part of a pre-recorded message, explaining that the game’s story “co-exists” with that of the films.
Players will explore a new region of Pandora not seen in the film. Rifles, shotguns, and rocket launchers were all shown off. By searching the world of Pandora, players will be able to craft better weapons and improve their skills.
The game will be entirely playable in either single-player or co-op.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora was originally planned to release closer to James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water, which hit cinemas last December.
However, Ubisoft announced in July 2022 that the game had been delayed, and would instead launch during the company’s fiscal year beginning in April 2023.
Frontiers of Pandora is a first person, open-world action-adventure game for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC and Luna. It’s in development at Massive Entertainment, the studio behind The Division franchise, in collaboration with Lightstorm Entertainment and Disney.
