Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is an open-world action-adventure for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC
“New, standalone story” will take players to unseen areas of Pandora
Ubisoft has confirmed new Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora gameplay details, as well as target platforms for the title.
The publisher revealed on Saturday that Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is a first person, open-world action-adventure game for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, PC, Stadia and Luna.
Set for release in 2022, the game is in development at Massive Entertainment, the studio behind The Division franchise, in collaboration with Lightstorm Entertainment and Disney.
“Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora brings to life the alluring world of Pandora with all of its beauty and danger in an immersive, open world experience,” Ubisoft said in a press release.
“In this new, standalone story, play as a Na’vi and embark on a journey across the Western Frontier, a never-before-seen part of Pandora. Explore a living and reactive world inhabited by unique creatures and new characters, and push back the formidable RDA forces that threaten it.“
Earlier on Saturday, Ubisoft revealed the first Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora trailer.
It offered “a glimpse of the amazing journey that awaits you in one of the most beautiful but dangerous places of all, brought to life by the latest version of our Snowdrop engine”, according to Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot.
The release of James Cameron’s Avatar 2 film sequel is currently scheduled for December 16, 2022.
